Screenshot Proof is one image of a dashboard, offered as proof that a store's revenue is real. It is the weakest tier of proof there is. Any number on a screen can be rewritten in a browser before the image is taken. Even an honest screenshot only shows one moment. It never shows the ledger behind it.
Why Even Honest Brokers Fall Back to It
Curated brokerages that prefer stronger evidence still accept this fallback when a seller declines account access; Empire Flippers publishes revenue screenshots as its accepted fallback for exactly that reason. The fallback exists because arranging real access takes effort, not because the image proves anything. A store can clear that bar with an image edited in a browser seconds earlier, a different store's admin screen, or a date range chosen to hide a bad quarter. None of those tricks survive a live, read-only look at the actual order ledger.
Not to Be Confused With
- Proof of Revenue
- Proof of revenue spans a whole range of evidence, from weak to strong. Screenshot proof names only its weakest rung: a static image with nothing behind it that a reader can independently check.
